Applications of Styrofoam Compactors

 

Styrofoam compactors, also called Styrofoam densifiers, produce high density logs allowing trailers to be loaded to maximum weights. Styrofoam compactor is a machine to reduce volume and increase density making the shipping expanded polystyrene foam (EPS) to a recycling center economically. The machine is also known as Styrofoam densifier and Styrofoam cold compactor. The Styrofoam compactor is widely used in sea food processing plant, electronic factories, white goods and black goods stores, and the supermarkets. . How the Styrofoam Compactor Works

You throw waste Styrofoam into the machine hopper.

The pre-breaker breaks the foam blocks into smaller flake of size 1" to 2".

An auger compactor under the pre-breaker presses the foam into densified logs.

You stack the logs onto pallets.

The result is 0.5 lb/f³ scrap densified up to 25 lb/f³ blocks

The presses compact waste Styrofoam packaging blocks, Styrofoam fish boxes, and Styrofoam board to absolute minimum, up to 50 to 1 size reduction. With this significant volume reduction, the compacted Styrofoam will takes up much less storage space, and it makes logs that facilitate transport and handling. This means a big cost saving and higher residual value of scraps. This auger compactor can densify the STYROFOAM / EPP foam up to 25 lb/f³. Although this is less compaction compares to briquette presses, the auger compactor is much less expensive and operation cost is less. Compare to the melt extrusion densifiers, the screw compactor avoid thermal deterioration and deduction of the material viscosity, it is energy saving, it generates no odor, and it is convenient for off-and-on operation. And very important, the residual value of cold compacted logs is higher than hot molten ingots.
